Ever distinguished and unflustered, the Thames winds steadily through the city of London, brooding under an overcast dawn sky. Over the course of the day, as the river continues to follow its unchanging progress, some of Cereal’s favourite haunts, taken from our London City Guide, provide context to Mr Porter’s new in-house brand, Mr P. Italian knitwear, Scottish wool, and Japanese denim fuse to create a timeless collection, that is classically cut, effortless, and durable.

At The London Edition Hotel, cool morning light pools over the dark walnut panelled walls. Waking is with gentle ease, reaching for the soft cotton of a simple t-shirt and the deep navy of pleated twill trousers. Layered with a jacquard patterned sweater, the fabric sighs with sleepy sophistication, as comfort and elegance meet. Lunch is served at Luca, where British food is translated into delicious pasta dishes amidst understated Italian design. Warm melange wool of weaved russet brown, moss green, and sea blue yarn is at home amongst the shimmering texture of the wooden seating and brushed pink plaster.

As evening draws dim light from Primeur, the unassuming garage opens to reveal itself reimagined in a neo-industrial style. The rich oak table is soft as if smoothed by cotton, encouraging the gentlemanly formalities to ebb. Mustard yellow velvet chairs expectantly await the evening’s revels, as does Mr P. Embraced by a clean-cut, camel-coloured overcoat, blended with wool and cashmere, he sips fine wine and looks on into the night ahead.
